Amazing Experiences in Venice

Gondola Rides

Usually, a gondola ride of 1 hour should cost around 50 euros (the price varies depending on the routes and the duratuion of a ride). While sometimes costs of a ride are considered high, however it's a worthwhile spending for anyone enchanted by Venice's otherworldly beauty. During the ride you will be able to clearly notice and appreciate the uniqueness of the Venice city and its architecture.
History of Gondolas: two hundred years ago, there were 10,000 gondolas in Venice. Although the aristocracy preferred horses to boats through the early Middle Ages, beginning in the 14th century, when horses were outlawed from the streets of Venice, the noble class embraced gondolas as a respectable form of transportation.
Today, there are about 400 gondolas in service, used only by tourists. The boats are prettier now, but they work the same way they always have. Single oars are used both to propel and to steer the boats, which are built curved a bit on one side so that an oar thrusting from that side sends the gondola in a straight line.

St Mark's Square

St Mark's Square, is the principal public square of Venice.
The Squareis dominated at its eastern end by the great church of St Mark. The church is called St Mark's Basilica, and there are aspects of it which are a part of the square, including the whole of the west facade with its great arches and marble decoration, the Romanesque carvings round the central doorway and, above all, the four horses which preside over the whole square and are such potent symbols of the pride and power of Venice.
